CookieRun: Crumble October 8 Update — Chardonnay & Arena
Chardonnay Cookie, the Continuum Cog Pet, Chapter 9 of D’vine Abbey and the new Rumble Arena PvP mode — everything in the October 8 patch.
CookieRun: Crumble has shipped two content updates since the September 10 patch, and together they change more than any single patch so far. The roster now stands at 77 Cookies and 57 Pets, the main story has entered Chapter 9, and a full competitive mode — the Rumble Arena — is now live alongside the endgame Dimensional Rift. Here is everything worth knowing.
Chardonnay Cookie arrives as the first SSR Volley supplier
Chardonnay Cookie (SSR, Grass, Supporter) headlines the October 8 patch.
| Detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Rarity | SSR (Super Special Rare) |
| Element | Grass |
| Role | Supporter |
| Base ATK / DEF / HP | 133 / 60 / 2,790 |
| Skill | Sanctuary of Verdance |
| Synergy supplied | Volley |
| Synergy consumed | Projectile Speed |
The synergy line is the story here. Until this patch, Volley came from Cheesecake Cookie (R), Herb Cookie (SR) and Tiger Lily Cookie (SR) — usable, but always a slot spent on a low-rarity support. Chardonnay Cookie is the first SSR that supplies Volley, so a Volley carry can now be switched on by a unit that also deals damage and buffs the lane.
Sanctuary of Verdance sends a barrier in a straight line, damaging everything it crosses while raising CRIT% and Push RES for allies standing on it. It is a positioning skill: line it up along the column your damage dealers occupy and the whole lane gains the buff. She needs Projectile Speed herself, which Alchemist Cookie (R) and Pomegranate Cookie (SSR) provide.
Her dedicated guide covers team shells in detail: Chardonnay Cookie guide.
Continuum Cog: a Pet built for one mode
Continuum Cog (SSR) is the most specialised Pet in the game so far. Every star of its passive does the same thing — more Boss damage, but only inside the Dimensional Rift.
| Stars | Effect |
|---|---|
| 1★ | Ally Boss DMG in the Dimensional Rift +50% |
| 2★ | +75% |
| 3★ | +100% |
| 4★ | +125% |
| 5★ | +150% |
Outside the Rift it does nothing, so do not treat it as a general-purpose Pet. Inside the Rift, a 5★ Continuum Cog more than doubles your Boss damage, which is the single largest multiplier available for Rift progression right now. If you are pushing Rift stages, this is the Pet to invest in; if you are still clearing the main story, your existing Pets are better value.
Chapter 9: D’vine Abbey
The main story continues into Chapter 9, D’vine Abbey, a ten-stage chapter that closes on a boss fight. It is the first new chapter since launch and the narrative follows the abbey that Pinot Noir Cookie leads and that Grapevine Cookie was expelled from — the same storyline Chardonnay Cookie was written into.
Clearing the final main stage is also what unlocks the Dimensional Rift, so Chapter 9 is the gate between the story campaign and the endgame loop. Expect to need a properly starred frontline: the chapter’s later stages lean on sustained fights rather than burst checks.
Rumble Arena: real PvP, with real rules
The Rumble Arena is asynchronous PvP against players from all servers. Your attacking team faces the opponent’s defending team, and every win earns points that raise your Arena tier. Daily rewards follow your tier, and season rewards are paid out based on the tier you hold when the season ends.
Three rules shape how you should build for it:
- You only see the opponent’s tier and lineup. Everything else is hidden, so you are counter-picking a composition, not a stat sheet.
- Only some growth applies. Cookie levels and promotions, Pet effects, Collection buffs, Gear and Sugar Runes count. Anything outside that list does not, which flattens the gap between a whale and a well-built account.
- Season passives apply to everyone. Each season sets Arena Passives that buff Cookies or summons matching certain criteria — for both teams. Check the current passive before you lock a lineup.
You can skip up to five opponents in a row before the game asks you to wait or spend Crystals, and your defence log lets you take revenge on players who beat your defending team. Our Rumble Arena guide breaks down offence, defence and the passive rotation.
What landed in late September
The previous update in this window was just as large:
- Princess Bari Cookie (TSSR, Fire, Attacker) — a Charge-supporting attacker who wraps herself and Charge allies in damage reduction, Push RES and Lift RES, then charges the highest-ATK enemy. She consumes Range. Full breakdown in the Princess Bari Cookie guide.
- Moon Rabbit Cookie’s Pampered with Persimmon (SSR, Grass, Tanker) — the roster’s only Grass SSR Tanker. It transforms into a giant rice cake rabbit, damages everything nearby and cuts enemy ATK and CRIT%, which is a defensive debuff rather than a damage skill.
- Candy Shade Pouch (SSR Pet) — Ally Lift RES from 22.5% to 30% and Max HP from +5% to +12.5% across five stars. A clean anti-knock-up pick for stages that juggle your frontline.
- Dimensional Rift — the new endgame. It opens after the final main stage, runs in seasons that reset with each major update, and uses Dimensional Energy (earned from Auto Hunt, scaled by your highest Rift stage) for a Rift-only stat boost. Dimension Fragments from clears and ranking rewards are spent in the Rift exchange. Rankings are decided by highest stage cleared, then by clear time.
What to do this week
- Push Chapter 9 if you have not finished it — it unlocks the Rift.
- Check your Arena passive before building a defence team, then set one. An empty defence is free points for everyone else.
- Do not bench your Rift Pet. If you own Continuum Cog, Rift stages are where it pays for itself.
- Hold Crystals for Chardonnay only if you run Volley carries. She is an enabler, not a standalone damage unit.
Every new Cookie and Pet is already in our Cookie database, Pet database and tier list, and the team builder has been updated with the new synergies.
